Automatic in-tank fish sampling
Samplix is an automated surface vehicle (ASV) designed to navigate the surface of fish farming tanks, capturing images at regular intervals to monitor and analyze the fish population. Equipped with SONAR technology, Samplix measures the distance to the sampled individuals, providing precise data on their location and behavior. The captured images are processed through a specialized application that extracts the size distribution histogram of the fish within the tank, offering valuable insights into their growth and health.
This innovative project is still under development, with a functional prototype already tested in real-world conditions. While the current version of the analysis application is semi-automatic, our ambitious goal is to fully automate this process by 2025. Samplix represents the future of aquaculture monitoring, combining cutting-edge technology with practical applications to deliver more efficient, accurate, and sustainable fish farming solutions.
